Roderick Thompson is a seasoned attorney with decades of experience spanning criminal defense, nonprofit leadership, and entertainment and sports law. As a former public defender, he handled some of the most serious and high-stakes cases, including homicide jury trials, consistently delivering life-changing results for his clients. Going up against the full weight and limitless resources of the U.S. government, Mr. Thompson built a reputation as a fearless, strategic, and relentless advocate—outmaneuvering prosecutors, dismantling weak cases, and securing victories where the odds were stacked against his clients. His ability to think fast under pressure, break down complex legal battles, and negotiate from a position of strength is what sets him apart.

Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Thompson serves as General Counsel for the nonprofit, Diversity In Aquatics where he provides legal strategy, high-stakes negotiation, and complex business and compliance oversight for a mission-driven organization. His experience navigating regulatory challenges, contract negotiations, and governance issues gives him a broad legal perspective that translates seamlessly into the entertainment and sports industries.

Now at the intersection of film, sports, and business, Mr. Thompson leverages his deep connections in film distribution to help independent filmmakers secure strategic deals. A Howard University graduate in Civil Engineering and former Howard swimmer, Mr. Thompson competed as a Division I athlete, developing the discipline, resilience, and strategic mindset that now define his legal approach.
